Living more of my dreams. I’ve always, always wanted to more formally learn contemporary dance. So many of the people I admire are dancers. If you see my LifeList, ever since I was little, you’ll see dance always had a place in it. Contemporary dance. Ballet. Jazz.
And so I’m doing it.
I began formally training in contemporary dance today. Its a mix of ballet, jazz and expressive dance. Its beautiful! In combination with my morning yoga, this is making me feel supple and stretched out and relaxed already! and today is only Day 1!!
(YAY:))
Next in line is a martial art.
Karate I have done (and loved). Next I want to learn a new form. Something I can fuse with my dance and karate and yoga into something quite ‘me’.
But that’s long term.
For now, dance is my love.

That is awesome! Follow your dreams!
good for you for going out there and doing it! i hope dance fills your life with even more joy.
thanks for checking in with me from time to time. i’m in a place where i’m back to feeling like reconnecting through posts, so hope to catch up with you soon.
take care. kerry
Try tai chi! My husband teaches it and it’s beautiful but really requires a lot of strength and discipline plus there are hidden attack and defence moves inside it.
sacred suzie!!

yes, tai cho too!!!
my brother is learning tai chi
-so i’ve been learning from him with evening sessions of tai chi on our front lawn!
i’m still not fluid in my movements, though.
thanks for the reccommendation! i really like learning it.
kerry!!!!!
good to see you back!!!!!
i look forward to catching up with you too!!! how are you? where have you been? etc!! will talk.
Great to hear you have began dance too!
I’m dancing for myself these days, I can’t find a workshop or a school I want to join.
I’m doing the flute you are dancing, its like a cultural exchange again.
Listen, you knew a dance troupe or group in Delhi, could you please tell me about them and if I can join them, I desperately need to know a dance place in Delhi.
yours truly,
worried.
So inspiring! Great!!!!
chamki,
i’m grateful i found what i wanted. its this guy who headed the london contemporary dance school at one point. met him. so learning from him. he comes home. and we train in the living room: where mom does yoga in the morning. also got full length mirrors there for the purpose.
flute is the other thing. only recently i found out you played flute for college. its so strange, the quirky, improbably similarities we have!!
dance troupe in delhi is currently on tour in the uk. also, they deal with contemporary dance and theatrical dance. but i’ll check with them.
muwah.
m.
dance? karate? tai chi?? are these the “boys keep out” sign boards you put up??;)
jus kiddin…
great Mahima!
I love dance, too.
Have I mentioned my current form of exercise…”jazzercise” …
I wish the dance routines were more involved…but I love being part of a group…and having music to guide expression…and knowing that I am getting more and more in shape…some of the routines involve “throwing punches” (like boxing) and kicking (like karate, I think)…and some basic dance moves…
and we do strength moves with hand weights and exercises on the floor…and lots of moves that challenge balance…
do you like gymnastics…my daughter loves doing it…and I did in my younger days, too.
I hope to be doing Yoga soon…would love to be in a dance group…I think that if I were taller, dance might have been something I would have considered for a direction…area of specialization…
Creating your own mix with dance…is just what I would think you might want to do….you are so open to learning many things…and you are so uniquely you!
oh my god!
i just visited coz have been missing u so terribly….n thought what next will b up here on the post! n came across this!
its awesome!
u r dancing !
thats soooooooooooooooo amzing !
wish i cud join u there!
but anyway…guess what! my exercises r goin strong…..except that i do the ones that i remember at that particular time…. but most of them r stretches n few cardio!
at least my body has become flexible…. n my balance has increased…..n i make my 5yr old cousine sis n my nephew do it as well….m glad! thank you !
jen,
your jazzercise sounds awesome.
this is y workout for these days.
more intense than a workout would normally be, but thats because it focuses so much on body alighment and principles which we haven’t learnt fr 21 years!

hi Mahima! I like your transition to wordpress. Blogger kinda really sucks these days. The format so stale, no matter how cool your customization be.Its funny though, i registered at wordpress a few days back and am so confused about the whole system even now.. Anyways, I like the template , good stuff.
Wow, wow, wow!
Not because of the dance itself but your spirit, your enthusiasm, your courage
I’m jealous
Well done!
secondslater,
yes, blogger was bugging me!!
i like wordpress. altho i’m still checking out its options etc.
devil mood!!
courage, yes, it took lots of that to actually ask someone and begin! but now i love it
Ooohhhhhhhh dance sounds SO much fun! One of these days I will take the plunge and join a dance class too. Thanks for the inspiration!
